Frequently Asked Questions
When should the Hanuman Chalisa be read?
Tuesday and Saturday are traditional, and many devotees read it every morning after bathing. There is no wrong time — the Chalisa is a prayer, not a ritual with conditions.
How many verses does the Hanuman Chalisa have?
Forty verses, which is what "chalisa" means — from chalis, forty. It was composed by Tulsidas in Awadhi.
Why is Hanuman called Sankat Mochan?
Sankat Mochan means "remover of troubles". The name comes from the belief that sincere remembrance of Hanuman lifts fear and difficulty from a devotee.
